FROM THE PASTOR…

“God’s Invitation For Real Rest”

Matthew 11:28 Jesus said “Come unto me all ye who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Jesus makes an invitation to the world to come to him and find rest.

What is in invitation? The act of inviting, a spoken or written request for someone’s presence. In the New Testament, I found five invitations from God to the world to come unto Him.

1.      Come and see

2.      Come and follow

3.      Come and dine

4.      Come and inherit

5.      Come and rest

Jesus appeals to a very tired generation of people, who he saw needed rest.

Many are running to and from, morning to late night, there are so many things to do and yet not enough time to do them all.

Perhaps the greatest problem however, is not the tiredness of the body but our tired souls. We have grown tired as a nation over evil, over our land, over corruption and many things are left unchecked. And we have grown weary of the unchanged face of sin.

So, Jesus gives an invitation to a group of tired people to come and rest. The Bible teaches us that there is rest for the soul even when life gets hectic. This rest is deep and refreshing and satisfies.

So what ever you do, don’t forget that there are many people who just need rest. Make sure you share with them that only Jesus can give your real rest!

So send out the invitation somebody soon.

Praise God

For Victory

Submitted by:  Sis. Shirley Carswell

Praise God For Victory is a favorite saying of our First Lady, Sis Moore. Today this phrase has a new meaning to me. For I can personally PRAISE GOD FOR VICTORY! Just in the midst of a celebration, Satan tried to attack my body. But as a believer in Christ, I have a heritage. I am connected to a bloodline that has certain rights and privileges when we are faced with sickness or difficulties. He never promise me I will not have problems, but He promised me when things come up against me, I can have the victory. Yes, Saints I have the Victory today! God healed my body. The doctors didn’t do it because they didn’t know what was wrong to know what to do. I was telling one doctor, no matter what was wrong, I know who healed me. He asked me, Who did it? When I responded Jesus! He said I was checking to make sure you knew who did it. The doctors themselves had to admit that God did it. I Give Him all the Glory and honor for what He did.

Have you ever just thought about how big and powerful God is. Just like He created the universe, He created You and I. My mother use to pray the prayer, You made me Lord and you know all about me. He is the only one who knows All about us. When our bodies need healing, he knows what to do, if we stand on His promises He made to us.

"God said to Moses, ‘I AM THAT I AM. and  he said Thus shall thou say unto the children of Israel: I AM has sent me unto you' " (Exodus 3:14)

He is the Great I Am. I AM your everything. I AM your healer. I AM your doctor. I AM your strength. I AM your protector. I AM your way maker. I AM your provider. I AM your problem solver. I AM your peace. I AM your wisdom. I AM your guide. I AM your Victory. Yes, He is I AM for whatever you need Him to be.

Thanks, to all the saints, relatives and friends for your prayers and genuine concern during my illness. I appreciate my Pastor and First Lady to the highest. I have one of the greatest sisters anyone can ask for. My Sister Dorothy loves the Lord tremendously. I praise and thank God for her and also, Freddie and Raymond and their wives. It means so much when you have family who can lift you up in prayer. I thank God for my entire family; church family and natural family.

Continue to pray for me. I loveYou All.

We Salute All Our Mothers this Month. We thank God for each of you. You are Special to all of Us and We Love You.

To Our Graduates, we are very proud of you. Remember who you are, is God’s gift to you; what you become is your gift to God. Continue to strive for the top in all your endeavors.

Words Of Encouragement

To The

Married Couples…

By: Bro. & Sis Edwin Taylor

“The Marriage Covenant”

Obviously, Israelis failure in this respect was not due to lack of religion.  They were “Covering the altar of the Lord with tears.”  Yet, for all their prayers, their marriages were failures.  We are quite often confronted with a similar situation today.  People may be very busy with religious activities and yet be unable to make a success of their marriages.  Their religion does not enable them to succeed at home.  In deed, excessive pre occupation with religion outside the home, by one or both parties, is sometimes an important factor in the failure of a marriage.

The essence of Israel’s failure is contained in the closing phrase of Malachi 2: 14. “though she is…your wife by covenant.” Israel had come to view marriage as a relationship for which they might set their own standards; one which they were free to initiate or terminate on their own terms.  God reminds them, however, that He views marriage quite differently.  According to his unchanging purpose, marriage is a covenant, which is the secret that alone ensures the success of the marriage relationship.  Once this secret is forgotten or ignored, marriage inevitably loses its sanctity.  With the loss of the sanctity of marriage, it also loses its strength and stability.  Much of what we see in our contemporary civilization of Israel in Malachi’s day and the root cause is the same - a wrong view of marriage.
